"Skill India" campaign was launched by the Hon' Prime Minister of India Shri. Narendra Modi, with an aim to train over 40 crore people in different skills .It is expected that the hydrocarbon sector would generate one lakh technical jobs over next five years .To meet this requirement ,PSUs under Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gases are Developing Skill Development Institutes in various states.
MoP&NG has formed a Steering Committee consisting of Director (HR) s of Oil Public Sector Undertakings for setting up Skill Development Institutes in various parts of the country.Each major Oil & Gas PSU (IOCL,ONGC,BPCL,HPCL,OIL and GAIL) has to set up Skill Development Institute (SDI ) in different states.Accordingly , a state -of the - art Skill Development Institute (SDI) Kochi has been Registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific & Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955-Act XII of 1955)(Sl.
